High Fives: Praxis Skis
What's the Praxis story? Where did you come from?
Praxis was born in my garage and has evolved into a full-on ski factory of dedicated skiers designing and making skis. I feel like a lot of people have seen or heard how we started out, that is if they've ever heard of us! So I'm going to jump ahead and talk a little more on where we are going. The last couple years the story has really changed to a custom ski company. We have our standard line of skis that is always in stock and available, but something we are doing different is offering custom made-to-order skis during the summer months for a great price. The more this method of factory-direct sales on a custom level evolves, the more I like it. We can really make the ski personal to the skier by allowing custom options on our line of skis. We can offer a great price because the customer is buying the ski upfront and we are fitting it into our summer production schedule. It’s a win-win, both for the skier and for Praxis.

Small Brand Shout-Out: Praxis Skis
Building quality freeride skis, one world champion at a time
Dueling world champs Drew Tabke and Lars Chickering-Ayers at last year's Kirkwood stop of the FWT. Both on Praxis skis. PHOTO: Keith O'Meara
Last year’s Freeride World Tour was a good one for Praxis skis. The tour featured six stops and on half of them the winner rode a pair of the company’s sticks.
Drew Tabke, the tour’s overall winner, took first place at both Revelstoke and Chamonix Mont-Blanc on a model called the GPOs. Later in the tour, Lars Chickering-Ayers won the Kirkwood stop on a pair of the GPOs as well.
“It was a lot of fun to watch,” says company president and founder Keith O’Meara.

2012-2013 Praxis MVP
As I wrote in my preview of the Praxis MVP, this is a ski that I’ve been very excited about, so check out the preview if you’d like to know why.
Plus, this happens to be the pair that Praxis ski builder Kevin O’Meara—Praxis owner Keith O’Meara’s cousin—built for himself to compete on this season. (Kevin picked the topsheets, too. And there are a bunch of other graphics you can choose from, in addition to choosing your preferred flex and layup of the ski.)

FREESKIER Magazine.
Company Callout: Praxis Skis
For skiers, by skiers. It’s a ski industry slogan that’s thrown around a lot, perhaps too much. But when Lake Tahoe-based Praxis skis founder and team members, Keith O’Meara, Kevin O’Meara, Drew Tabke and the legendary Dean Cummings make that claim there’s a lot of stock behind it.
Tabke is the 2011 Overall Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Champion and Kevin O’Meara recently took third in the FWT’s Chilean Championships at Ski Arpa. They aren’t just skiers, they are certified back flippin’, cliff stompin’ Gs. So if Praxis skis can endure a daily beating from the likes Cummings, Tabke and O’Meara, we mere skiers should do swimmingly.

Praxis Skis Review
If you’re looking for a screaming deal on a pair of brand spanking new handmade skis then you best not waste anymore time and head right over to Praxis and check out their pre-order sale.
For more than eight years Praxis Skis has been producing some of the best “microbrewed” skis available in the ski industry. Handcrafted on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe Praxis was started by owner and operator Keith O’Meara with a vision to make the best skis possible for individual skiers looking for the perfect tool to ski park, backcountry terrain and of course powder-a Praxis specialty.

The Praxis WooTest
The day of reckoning has come. Not many people get the chance to see the design of a ski from start to finish (see Protesting the Backcountry), and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to do so. I cannot thank enough the guys at Praxis Skis; Keith, the owner, who had faith in the project; and, most of all, the somewhat surprising number of people who got on board and stepped up to purchase a pair.

2013-2014 Praxis Protest Review
The main trick in writing a review of the Praxis Protest is to make clear just how good this ski is, while also conveying a relatively accurate sense of the ‘feel’ of the ski, its limitations, and what sort of skier is most likely to dig it.

Gear | Praxis Concept 187 Review
Before I get into this review, I’m assuming most have read the product feature we put out on this ski a few months ago on the ski. It highlights the basic features, specs and general theory behind the Praxis Concept. Missed that one? Here is the Cliff’s notes: This ski is unlike anything else we know of out there. It features a rather bizzare camber and sidecut profile that is just easier to show than try to explain in words. The idea behind this shape is to create a ski that combines certain attributes of a reverse camber/sidecut ski (spatula) with the versatility of a conventional sidecut/camber.
