Do you want to work in the ski industry and learn more about the ski manufacturing and design process?  We are looking for a couple new employees to work with us the at the Praxis Ski factory during our summer manufacturing process. The manufacturing positions start early June and go until mid December, full time Monday - Friday.  This job is perfect for an individual who is looking for a fast-paced and fun work environment. This is a manufacturing position in a ski factory environment, and you must be willing to work safely therein. Personal protective gear, such as safety glasses, gloves, and respirators, will be provided and required to work in these conditions. You must be able to work with a variety of tools and equipment in order to complete tasks quickly, accurately and safely. You must have a positive attitude and be willing to work hard to reach the production goals.

Ski Finishing/Tuning: 

Working in the ski finishing department is one of the most demanding and rewarding experiences you can have in the factory. You will be directly responsible for the finishing process, from a rough and raw ski fresh off the press to a high-quality, performance-oriented, and beautiful finished product. Every step of the process is intricate and critical, but the end result will be worth it. The satisfaction of knowing that you had an integral part in creating a ski that will be enjoyed by others is highly rewarding.

You will be responsible for all aspects of finishing skis once they come off the ski press. Previous tuning experience/work is preferred, with knowledge of ski base sanding, stone grinding, edging, and waxing. You will need to be comfortable using a variety of tools and equipment to complete the job, such as band saws, shapers, routers, sanding machines, stone grinders, ceramic disc edger. You will need to have a keen eye and attention to detail to ensure the skis are delivered to the highest standards.

 

Layup Technician: 

This is where the magic happens. You take all the parts your team has created and put them together to create the ski. Time and perfection are of the essence in this job. One simple mistake and all is lost. Finishing tasks on time and staying on schedule is the most important thing. You must have the ability to change tasks quickly and work quickly to stay on schedule.

You will be responsible for reading the production sheet's custom-build details, organizing the correct parts, and putting these parts together in a wet layup with epoxy resin. Protective gear, such as respirators, aprons, glasses, and gloves, must be used and will be provided. You will also be responsible for setting up the press molding, cleaning ski parts, and pressing cassettes. A high attention to detail is essential. You must also be aware of safety procedures and ensure that all processes are followed correctly.  You will also be responsible for the quality control of the parts that have been produced. This includes checking the dimensions and ensuring that the parts meet the custom production requirements. Finally, you will be required to keep accurate records on the production details of the skis.

 

Sales/Marketing: 

The Sales Marketing Admin position for Praxis Skis' factory-direct-to-consumer business model is an exciting and challenging opportunity. The individual will be responsible for advertising, promotions, sales events, social media, and website management. They will also be interacting with customers to advise them on the best ski choices and custom options, maintaining and engaging in social media platforms, and answering questions via phone and email, as well as shipping finished skis and ordering production materials. Finally, the individual will also be tasked with front-desk, ski-showroom, office management, filing, and organizing recordkeeping. This individual will need to be highly organized and have strong communication and problem-solving skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and be able to multitask. They should also be very positive enthusiastic and able to speak well, representing the company at public events and in news interviews. An understanding of basic accounting principles, ensuring the accuracy of QuickBooks and data entry, is also required; therefore, they need a knowledge of Excel, QB, Word, and other computer programs. An intrinsic understanding of the ski industry and ski production are essential for this role. The individual should be passionate about skiing and able to use their knowledge and expertise to help customers make the best purchase decisions. Additionally, they will be responsible for developing and formatting graphics for skis and the website, and should have a creative eye for design and be able to use tools such as Adobe Photoshop to create compelling graphics for the marketing promotions and the website.
